Maui Hawaii

This was written around this time last year. I’m just now finally getting to share my blog post about my trip to Hawaii! I hope you all enjoy!

Cody and I recently had the opportunity to got to Maui Hawaii with our great friends Kelsey and Matthew! Their family has a condo in Kihei and they invited us to stay with them for the week. It was cutting a little close to our road trip…but how could we say no! It’s Hawaii for crying out loud! So we got our negative COVID tests, packed, and headed for Maui!

For those wondering, yes you do have to get a negative test before flying to Hawaii. They gave us a list a approved places you could go to get your test. And then when we arrived we had to do one more COVID test but that was the last one! Super easy and simple!

We arrived around 7:00 at night there and drove to the condo. By the time we got settled in we were exhausted from traveling so we went straight to bed.

DAY ONE
Kelsey and I woke up early to watch the sunrise so we walked to the beach and chilled for a little bit. It was so warm when I walked out of the condo I couldn’t believe it! We relaxed, Kelsey journaled, I took some photos! It was a wonderful morning! Then we walked back to the condo to meet up with the boys and get ready to go see if we could find a rental car. We got lucky and ONE place had 2 available. A minivan or a Camaro. UMMM We definitely took the Camaro! Once we got a car we decided to drive to Lahaina Beach for some swimming, cliff jumping, and tanning. This was probably my favorite day of the whole trip. It was such a fun filled day with perfect weather, great friends, couldn’t have asked for anything better! We went and watched the sunset on the beach in downtown Lahaina and then went to Lahaina Fish company for some dinner. Cody got some incredible fish and chips and I ordered the 50 dollar lobster which left me speechless! It was mouth watering! So so sooo good! We then drove back home and got ready for a full day ahead tomorrow.

DAY TWO
We only had the Camaro for 2 days so we had to make sure to use it to the fullest! We decided to take the road to Hana because everyone says the best way to drive that road is in a convertible! It was so so soooo epic! We saw so many incredible waterfalls and it was so lush and beautiful! We tried to go to the black sand beach but they didn’t have any availability so we went to the red sand beach which was actually Cody’s favorite part of the whole trip. I took some fun pictures next to the perfectly blue water and then went and chilled with the crew at our spot. We then went to the Haleakala National Park to hike the Pipiwai Trail. It was a beautiful trail through the bamboo forest that leads to Waimoku Falls, a breathtaking waterfall that makes the hike so much more satisfying! Very muddy trail so I’m happy I wore my Tevas cause it was messy!
After all that we drove back into town and found a Thai Foodtruck! I got some coconut mahi with a papaya salad and rice and Cody got some pad Thai. It was everything we needed and more! So yummy! Then we decided to start the drive back to Kihei.

DAY THREE
This was our last morning with the car so Kelsey and I rushed to Maui Yoga Shala in Paia for a little workout. I am SO GLAD that we did that because it was one of the best yoga classes I have ever attended! Shelby was our instructor and she led a phenomenal class. I felt so healed and nourished, it was heavenly. Kelsey and I almost cried afterwards. We were almost late to getting the car back to the rental spot but thankfully they were okay with us being a few minutes behind. We gave it back and walked back to the condo to get ready to go grab some food. We went to the Lava Rock Cafe which ended up being such a wonderful experience that we went back the next day too! Delicious food, yummy drinks, and a beautiful, big patio. After that we went and took a nice chill day and just relaxed the beach in Kihei.

DAY FOUR
The next morning we woke up early to go do some paddle boarding! We brought our inflatable paddle boards and were stoked to go in the ocean with it! It was SO MUCH FUN! I brought my goggles out and got to see all the underwater magic! Saw so many fish and we even got to see a turtle!! I couldn’t believe it! It was such ana amazing experience! I HIGHLY recommend paddle boarding in Hawaii! Amazing doesn’t even begin to describe how this experience was! Afterwards we celebrated with some $1 mimosas and brunch at the Lava Rock Cafe (aka our favorite place)! They certainly didn’t skimp out on the mimosas either! YUM! The rest of the day ended up being another relaxing beach day and it was glorious.

DAY FIVE
The next day we went paddle boarding again and this time Kelsey and Matthew got a little visitor from a turtle! He was hanging out around their paddle board for a little while and it was so cool! Matthew was worried that he was going to try and flip them over! But all was well, I took some photos on the beach for a little while afterwards and then we headed back to the condo. Later on in the day we all decided to check out the Tiki Lounge that was down the street from us. We ordered some drinks and food and it was delicious! We were pretty tired from all the fun we’ve been having on the beach so we just chilled at the condo for the rest of the night and hung out.

DAY SIX
This was our last full day of fun so we wanted to make the best of it! We got an Uber and he took us to Mckenna Beach which was just a short drive away. The waves were crazy there! I got knocked over quite a few times! But it was so much fun!! I loved every beach we went to in Hawaii, they were all so perfect and beautiful! We tried paddle boarding but the winds were too much so it wasn’t going to happen. But that was totally fine, we had a blast just playing in the water! Later on, Cody and I went back to the Tiki Lounge to have dinner and drinks one last time in Hawaii. We headed out the next day and had to prepare for our big road trip coming up.

We felt so lucky to be able to come down to his beautiful island with our friends. This was one of my favorite trips and I can’t wait to be able to go back there again! Check out my YOUTUBE vlog about our time in Hawaii!
